Why making photos dramatic?

When we use the word dramatic in photography we can be referring to different things, and trust me we are not talking about telenovelas.

The most common is lighting, by creating big or dark shadows we can give our subject a mysterious, dark more interesting look and this can be translated as dramatic. For example a Rembrandt lighting in a portrait can be considered as a dramatic lighting technique. The second most common way of adding drama to your photography is by incorporating details and texture that will help you tell a better history.

In this post we will be talking specifically about product photography,  and how to transform a simple product into something a lot more dramatic that can tell a story and give value to your photography.

Simple vs Dramatic

One of my favorite photography tricks is the water condensation or water droplets, they can make almost everything look dramatic. The following photo will show you the before and after of how a simple home made mix of 50% water and 50% vegetable glycerin in a spray bottle can give your photos a completely different look and feel.
